[Case Study] Rehabilitation of Sewer Manholes

Introducing case studies aimed at the rehabilitation of manholes affected by hydrogen sulfide corrosion.

We would like to introduce a case where "D-Hole (Docking Hole)" was implemented for the rehabilitation of sewer manholes. In the Waterworks Division of the Yakage Town Hall in Okayama Prefecture, measures were being taken for areas where hydrogen sulfide corrosion was significantly advanced. This time, they adopted the D-Hole using the "Cassette Method," which is gaining attention for its new construction technique. Long-lasting corrosion-resistant manholes! A sewer composite manhole rehabilitation method that achieves material savings.

The "Evashito Method" is a composite manhole rehabilitation technique that involves attaching an "FRP sheet" to the inner wall of an existing manhole that has advanced corrosion, using an expansion frame, and filling the gap between the sheet and the existing manhole with mortar. The backside treatment of the FRP sheet creates a rough surface with the adhered silica sand, enhancing the adhesion strength with the filling material and achieving a complete integration with the existing manhole, resulting in strong durability.
